ServSafe® Food Safety Training Program Overview

PLEASE NOTE: Courses with less than 10 students are subject to cancellation. Dates/Locations are subject to change. You will be notified if there is a change with your selected course date. Registration form must be completed in entirety in order to be processed. This includes payment information.

ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Examination

Full course and examination for foodservice managers, owners, operators, F&B directors, chefs, line cooks, kitchen managers, dietary managers, dieticians and others who need food safety training and certification.

Each participant will receive the 6th Edition, ServSafe® Essentials – with Exam Answer Sheet book. Confirmation with course book will be shipped via UPS 24 to 48 hours after payment and registration are received.

Cost Includes: Day of instruction, 5th edition ServSafe Essentials with answer sheet text book and certification exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, students will receive the National Restaurant Association Solutions ServSafe certificate. Certificates will be mailed 2 to 3 weeks after the course date.

Who Should Attend: Managers, cooks, chefs, wait staff, supervisors, owners, and all food handlers.

Why You Should Attend: According to the National Restaurant Association Solutions, an outbreak of foodborne illness can cost your operation over $75,000 in legal fees, medical claims, lost wages and sanitizing costs. These costs can be avoided by enrolling your staff in the ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certification Program. The ServSafe program meets the Alabama Department of Public Health requirement for CFSM training and certification.

Course Format: For your convenience, the Alabama Restaurant Association offers the ServSafe course in a one-day format. Course hours from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Registration must be made at least 3 business days prior to the scheduled date.  All cancellations will result in a $30 class rescheduling fee before new class will be authorized. NO REFUNDS!!


ServSafe® Food Safety Employee Level Course

Basic principals of food safety designed for all food handlers not previously certified. Note: Does not provide state required certification or CFSM basic training.

Each participant will receive the ServSafe® Starters Guide. Confirmation with course book will be shipped via UPS 24 to 48 hours after payment and registration are received.

What is the ServSafe® Food Safety Employee Level Course: The ServSafe® Food Safety Employee Level Course is a four hour course designed to provide food service workers with a basic knowledge of food safety best practices.

Who Should Attend: All non-managerial food service staff. This course will provide your staff with basic principals of food safety, designed for food handlers with no certification.

How long does the certification last: This course does not provide certification, and does not meet the new state requirement for a Certified Food Safety Manager (CFSM). However each student will receive a certificate of completion.

What material do I receive with the course: Each course participant will receive the ServSafe® Starters Guide. This booklet is the perfect training tool that gives managers an effective way to share key food safety concepts with hourly staff. Streamlined content enhances learning comprehension, while activities, exercises and quizzes reinforce lessons. It includes updates to the 2005 FDA Food Code and a certificate of completion to recognize participation in food safety training. This information is a valuable post-training reference.

Registration must be made at least 3 business days prior to the scheduled date.  All cancellations will result in a $10 class rescheduling fee before new class will be authorized. NO REFUNDS!!


ServSafe® Food Safety Train-the-Trainer Course

This one-day seminar is ideal for those who have passed the ServSafe® Manager’s Certification with a minimum score of 75% on the instructor examination and want to teach and encourage other employees and students to follow safe food handling procedures. Note: Only for positional ServSafe instructors.

Each participant will receive the ServSafe® Complete Instructor Toolkit, 5th Edition. Toolkit includes the ServSafe® Instructor CD-ROM, ServSafe® Instructor Guide, ServSafe® Essentials and Course Book. Tool kits will be delivered on the day of the course. Participants may also select to take the Train-the-Trainer course without any materials for a fee of $150.00.
